Are you under a curse? Learn how to live under the blessing…

are you under a curse by Pastor Bruce EdwardsAre you under a curse? The Bible tells us the human race is under a “curse”. To be cursed is the opposite of being blessed. Cursed means to be subject to evil; to vex, harass or torment with great calamities, to be separated from God. However, God has provided a remedy for the curse. It is Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Anyone who puts their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior are “saved”! They are saved from the curse.  Are you under a curse?  Not if you are a Christian.

Are You Under a Curse

Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.”  The first time I really heard this verse was in class at Bible College. It revolutionized my life in Christ. When you fully understand and grasp this truth –  it will revolutionize your life too. It is a huge key to having victory every day of your life.  Not only do you need Jesus to be set free from the curse you need know this truth and walk in it.  Are you under a curse?  Not if you believe in Jesus and know that you have been redeemed from the curse.

Redeemed from the Curse

Redeem means to purchase back or to buy up. It means to rescue from loss or to ransom. When you pay a ransom for something you pay a price in order to get someone or something back.

Jesus paid the price to release you from the curse of the law, to free you from the devil’s authority (Colossians 1:13), and to bring you into His kingdom – with all its privileges and benefits including victory in your life. You are purchased by His precious blood, redeemed from the curse, and brought back to relationship with Father God.

What Are We Redeemed From?

You are redeemed from the “curse of the law”. What exactly is the curse of the law? There are three major areas the curse of the law impacts the human race.

      1. Curse of Spiritual Death. Spiritual death is separation from God. With out Jesus you are lost, separated from the Father, spiritually dead. The moment you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you receive ETERNAL LIFE with God. You become what Jesus calls, “being born again”. (John 3:3 ) You become alive spiritually, a child of God, forever a citizen of the kingdom of God. Your sins are forgiven and you become a “NEW CREATION” in Christ. (2Corinthians 5:17) You are redeemed from the curse of spiritual death.
      2. Curse of Sickness & Disease. Sickness and disease are a curse. They are part of the curse of the fall and part of the curse of the law. The earth remains under a curse because of the fall of man in the garden of Eden, but through Christ you are redeemed from the curse of the “Law”. “By His stripes you WERE healed”. (1Peter 2:24) Jesus has provide healing for every sickness and disease just like He provided forgiveness for every sin. Psalms 103:2-3 says, “forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,”. You are redeemed from the curse of sickness and disease.
      3. Curse of Poverty. Poverty is a curse not a blessing. The Word of God emphatically teaches that poverty is a curse (Deut. 28:16-19,38-40). And the Word of God teaches that Christ redeemed us from that curse. He redeemed us from poverty so we wouldn’t have to live in poverty and lack in this life. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be made rich.”

Your redemption is far reaching. When you realize Christ has redeemed you from spiritual death, poverty and sickness you’ll be able to experience everything that belongs to you – peace, joy, freedom from guilt, shame, and condemnation. You will be able to walk in victory every day or your life.

Our Redemption is Past Tense

Notice your redemption is in the past tense – Christ has redeemed us – you have already been redeemed! You don’t need to be hoping and praying for, or trying to convince God to do something. He has already done it – “IT IS FINISHED”. The work of redemption from the curse of the law has already been established through Christ being cursed for us.

Walk in Victory & Enjoy the Blessings

Christ paid the price in full for your redemption. Now it is up to you to believe and receive. Notice it doesn’t say the curse is no longer there. The curse is still all around us. You can see it through out the world. But now you have a choice. You can in the Name of Jesus, walk in victory by grace through faith.

Don’t allow the devil to deceive you and intimidate you with fear, guilt, and condemnation. Don’t live under the curse. God wants you to enjoy the blessing He has provided. Galatians 3:14 tells us Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law ,so… the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles”. That is you and me.

Are you under a curse?  Absolutely not – you are to live under the blessing of Abraham. Choose to live the abundant, prosperous, overcoming, and victorious life. How? By knowing you’ve been redeemed from the curse of the Law by the blood of Jesus Christ. Stand on God’s Word and claim the blessing of Abraham that is yours in Christ.

God’s already done it. He sent Jesus to redeem you from the curse. The rest is up to you. Now you must appropriate what has already been done for you. Believe it and receive it.
