Discover the Secret to Resisting the Devil
Every day, the enemy tries to steal, kill and destroy your life. (John 10:10) He tries to tempt you, deceive you, lie to you, and intimidate you. He bombards your mind with thoughts of fear, worry, and doubt. All in an effort to get you to question your faith in God and His love for you.
Resist the Devil
Everyone faces temptation. The devil even tempted Jesus. Matthew 4:1 says, “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” How Jesus responded to that temptation gives us the “secret to resisting the devil”.
When tempted Jesus spoke three words that will revolutionize your life if you get it. Three words that provide the secret to resisting the devil. Jesus said, “IT IS WRITTEN”. (Matthew 4:4) Jesus resisted the devil with the Word of God. He did not give any reference or try to explain the context of the word. He simply picked out a scripture and SPOKE it.
You resist the devil in the same way, by speaking the Word of God. As you declare what is written, just as Jesus did it releases the power of God to transform the situation. If the devil tries to convince you that you are confused – you reply, “It is written – “I have the mind of Christ”. (1Corinthians 2:16) If he tries to tell you your going to be sick all your life – your respond, It is written , “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus”. (1Peter2:24) If the thought comes that, “You won’t be able to pay your bills,” make the simple declaration: “IT IS WRITTEN: My God shall supply ALL of my needs!”(Philippians 4:19) No matter what the enemy tries to throw at you the answer should always be – “IT IS WRITTEN” followed by the appropriate promise from God’s Word.
James 4:7 tells us, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When you declare what God’s Word says you are effectively resisting the devil and he has to flee. You are not trying to talk God into doing anything, you are simply declaring what He has already done.
IT IS WRITTEN – are 3 words that can change your life! These three words ruled the life of Jesus. Whenever the enemy tempted Jesus, He responded with the Word of God. You can effectively resist the devil the same way by boldly declaring the Word of God. Victory is yours in every situation and circumstance.
