How to Experience the Favor of God
Favor of God
Psalm 5:12 says, “You, O Lord will bless the righteous with FAVOR. You will surround him as a shield.”
God blesses the righteous, which means those who believe in Christ, with favor. Then Psalm 30:5 tells us, “…but His favor lasts a lifetime.“ So, as a believer God blesses you with favor and gives it to you for a lifetime. Not just for a day or for a moment, but a lifetime. I want to help you grasp and understand what a huge blessing this is. God has given you favor! Do you know what that is and means to you?
What is favor? Have you ever “done someone a favor”? Has anyone ever done you a favor? Favor is defined as, “A friendly disposition from which kind acts proceed to assist, to provide with special advantages, to receive preferential treatment.” That is God’s heart towards you. He wants to bless you, to help you, promote you, and treat you special. Proverbs 3:4 tells us, “we find favor with God and with man.” So, not only do we receive favor from God, but God also releases special affection towards us so that others are inclined to like us and to cooperate with us. That is FAVOR!
God’s favor is a gift. He chooses to bless us with His favor not for anything we have done but because of who we are – His children. We cannot earn His favor, nor do we deserve His favor. It has been extended to us out of relationship, however we have to accept it and tap in to that favor. We can miss or reject God’s favor. The favor of God can mean the difference between failure and success. So, how do you experience that favor in your life? How do you increase and grow in that favor like Jesus did (Luke 2:52)
Paul gives us three keys to experiencing God’s favor in our life. We find them in 1 Corinthians 2:12 quoting from the Amplified version –
“Now we have not received the spirit [that belongs to] the world, but the [Holy] Spirit Who is from God, [given to us] that we might realize and comprehend and appreciate the gifts [of divine favor and blessing so freely and lavishly] bestowed on us by God.”
1. Realize that God’s favor is for you. Until you realize God has already blessed you with favor you cannot experience it. Too often people don’t feel like they deserve God’s favor or that His favor is for someone else. There is an enemy that is working overtime trying to restrict you from experiencing God’s favor. He has robbed thousands of believers through lies and deception. It is time for you to experience God’s divine favor by receiving it by faith. The way you qualify for God’s favor is by being born again. His favor is part of your inheritance as a child of God.
2. Comprehend the value of God’s favor for your life. “Favor is better than silver and gold.” (Proverbs 22:1) In other words His favor is more valuable than riches. There are things favor can do for you that no amount of money can do. It has been said, “one moment of God’s favor is worth more than a thousand days of labor.” When you understand the value of something you are willing to pursue it. If you don’t value something your not going to take the time necessary to experience it.
3. Appreciate God’s favor in your life. It is important to have a thankful heart. We will experience more of the things we appreciate. When God blesses you make sure you give Him the credit. Don’t think it is because of what you did. Bless the Lord and forget not all His benefits. (Psalms 103:1) If you want to experience God’s favor in your life begin praising and thanking Him for favor. Expect God’s favor, believe that it’s going to manifest every day of your life and when it does, no matter how small it may seem, give God praise for it.
There are so many benefits of God’s favor. His favor brings –
- supernatural provision. (Dt. 6:11)
- increase. (Gen. 39:21)
- victory. (Ps. 44:3)
- divine protection. (Ps 91)
- restoration (Ex. 3:21)
- honor. (Ex. 11:3)
- promotion (Ps. 75:6)
– FAVOR will take you from your present situation and move you into the destiny that God has for you.
– FAVOR will put you in the right place at the right time to meet the right person to unlock your destiny!
– FAVOR will do for you what your education … your spouse … your personality …your abilities … and your career cannot do.
– FAVOR takes you from ordinary to extraordinary!
God is bursting at the seams to pour more of His favor out on you and fill your life with blessings. What keeps you from living out your blessings in all their fullness? What keeps you from living in your divine inheritance when you were born to live in God’s favor?
