Want a blessed life? Then…

to be blessed

How to be blessed

If you want a blessed life you have to trust the Lord. It is the one must do if you want to be blessed. Psalms 84:12 says, “O LORD of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in you!” Who is the blessed man? The one who trusts the Lord. There are many other Biblical principles for living the blessed life, but they all are built upon this foundational principle – trusting the Lord.

What does it mean to trust the Lord?

The word “trust” is synonymous with faith, confidence, belief and assurance. To trust the Lord means we have put our confidence for salvation, protection, direction, our future, our provision, and all that we need  in Him. God’s Word calls us as believers to put our trust in the Lord without reservation, believing that He will sustain us and cause all things to work for our good (Romans 8:28). We are warned not to put our trust in riches, or in ourselves, or in anything else; for all such trust is vain. “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” (Psalms 118:8)

How do you trust the Lord?

To trust the Lord, we must know him. Do you trust anyone you don’t know? No. The fact is, the better you know someone, the more you tend to trust that person. That is, if the person proves to be good and trustworthy. And there is no one more dependable, faithful, and reliable than the Lord. The Lord is good. All that God is and does is good. (Psalms 119:68) Psalms 38:8 tells us, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Get to know the Lord more and more and your trust in Him will grow. When you trust Him you are assured of a blessed life!

How to know the Lord?

It is one thing to know about someone, it is another thing to KNOW them. God invites us to have a personal relationship with Him. To know the Lord you must spend time with Him. How do you get to know anyone? By spending time with them. So, talk with God, listen to God, and read His Word every day. Jesus is your friend. (John 15:15) He is your brother. (Hebrews 2:11) Spend time with Jesus and get to know Him more. When you know Him better you will trust Him more and when you trust Him you’ll have a blessed life!

Being blessed is rooted in our relationship with Jesus not in the things or circumstances of life. When we learn to trust Him we are able to rest in the blessing that is ours through Him. He is the source of blessing in our life. It is self-contained, meaning that regardless of what is happening to us externally, we are truly blessed within, but it is only experienced by truly trusting Him. If we doubt His goodness, His faithfulness, His love, His ability, His want to, etc. we will not experience the blessed life.

He wants you blessed in your relationships, your job, your finances, your health, even through the trials, sufferings, and setbacks of life. He wants your life to be blessed in every area.  Want a blessed life? Then TRUST HIM!
