Is Your “But” in the Way?

Is your but in the way

No More Buts!

Before you click off this page let me quickly get to the point. This is going to help you! Why is it that every time you start to do something significant in your life you always put a big “but” in the way?

Here’s what I mean:

  • I need to read the Bible more … but
  • I need to pray more … but
  • I need to lose some weight… but
  • I want to get in better shape… but
  • I want my marriage to work… but.
  • I need to stop this habit(smoking, drugs, drinking, porn, etc) … but
  • I would like to start a business… but
  • I believe God’s calling me to serve… but
  • I want to get a better job… but
  • I want a great life… but

So, is your BUT in the way? Is it keeping you from achieving all that God has for you? Add to the list above any of the things you want or need to do and then think about what is stopping you from accomplish those things.

IS IT YOUR “BUT” THAT”S GETTING IN THE WAY?

If it is. If you are not reaching your full potential. If you are not experiencing the abundant life God has for you. If you are not moving forward towards all that God has for you. Then it might be your “but” is in the way.  Here are three things you can do to “STOP THE BUTS” from getting in your way;

1) See yourself as God does. He sees you as a winner, an over comer, and more than a conqueror. He does not see you as not good enough or as a failure or loser. He sees Christ in you. It is not you but Christ in you. (Galatians 2:20) Quit looking at you and look at God in you when you do you will stop the but!

2) Stop making excuses. Make up your mind right this moment to stop letting your “BUT” get in the way of doing all that God has for you by making excuses for your self. In the natural you may have limitations. You may be average in worldly terms, but God uses the ordinary to do extra ordinary things. Moses had a lot of excuses of why he could not do what God was asking him. He was just an ordinary guy–until he stopped making excuses and let God use him to become the greatest prophet of the Old Testament. Paul and Peter were pretty mediocre–until they got the revelation of who they were in Christ and became the Apostle Peter and Paul. Stop making excuses and get rid of all the buts and start being who God made you to be.

3) Change your confession from but, if, maybe, can’t to- “I CAN”. “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” (Philippians 4:13) The next time instead of saying “but” say I can, I will, I am able, etc. You CAN do it because God is with you and He is ready to help you live life to the fullest. Take the limits off. God is a big God! Anything and everything is possible with Him! There is so much more for you if you remove the “BUT” and declare what God says instead!

What are you waiting for? God can do anything and He does it through people like you who will simply believe!

God can “do far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3:20 (MSG) Go for it – you can do it if you “GET YOUR BUTS OUT OF THE WAY”.
