You are blessed – learn how you are blessed and why

As a believer you are blessed. Throughout the Bible God promises to bless His people. We see it in Genesis when God created man it says, “God blessed them...” (1:28) “ We see how God blessed Abraham and ALL the peoples on the land. (12:2) We see it throughout the Psalms as we “taste and see that the Lord is good” and discover Jesus as our shepherd and lack nothing. (23)

You are Blessed by God

Deuteronomy 28:6 says, “You will be blessed when you come and blessed when you go.” So, even if you don’t know whether you’re coming or going you are still blessed. Deuteronomy 28:3 says, “You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.” In other words no matter where you are in this world you are blessed.

Blessed in Christ

In Christ you are blessed! Ephesians 1:3 tell us, “God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” In Christ God HAS blessed you. Notice it doesn’t say He’s going to bless you or that He might bless you, but HE HAS blessed you. You are blessed by God through Christ.

You are blessed not because of anything you’ve done, but because of what Jesus has done. Jesus paid for your blessings with His blood. You are blessed!

What Does it Mean to Be Blessed

Blessed means divinely and supremely favored by God. It means to be sanctified or set apart by God, to be satisfied not wanting or needing anything. God’s blessing is both spiritual and physical. At the heart of God’s blessing upon us is Him living in us and us knowing Him. We are blessed because we are His children and in fellowship with Him.

However, being blessed does not mean a life without trials and trouble. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble.” (John 16:33) In Matthew 5:11-12. Jesus said, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” Notice Jesus doesn’t equate being blessed to our circumstances, but he links it to the kingdom of heaven. Being blessed means that in the midst of every storm or trial you can rejoice and have peace! Why? Because Jesus is with you always and and the blessing of the Lord is upon you.

Blessed to be a Blessing

You are blessed for a purpose. God blesses you so you can be a blessing! If you belong to Jesus you’ve already been blessed beyond measure, but remember God has blessed you be a blessing to others. Blessings aren’t to be hoarded, but to be shared.

If you’ve been forgiven much by God, then generously forgive others. When your were in need if you were given much, then give generously to others in need. If you’ve received encouragement give someone encouragement. The Lord expects us to be generous with what we have received. Ask God how you can use the blessings you have to be a blessing to others

You can live a life of victory every day because you are blessed!
