Integrity – Key to Effective Leadership
Integrity one of the most import keys of being an effective leader. Leadership is built on integrity. Without integrity leadership becomes corrupt and crumbles. John Maxwell says, integrity is the most crucial element of leadership. Provers 10:9 NLT says, “People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.”
The word integrity is tied to words like honesty and truthfulness. It requires a deep commitment to do the right thing for the right reason, regardless of the circumstances. The end never justifies the mean. People of integrity are incorruptible and unwilling to compromise the trust of those who are following their leadership.
Stephen R. Covey puts it this way. “Living a life of INTEGRITY starts with making and keeping promises, until the whole human personality, the senses, the thinking, the feeling, and the intuition, are ultimately integrated and harmonized.”
Leaders with integrity hold themselves to a high standard. They never say or have an attitude of “doing as I say and not as I do”. For leaders to have integrity, their actions must match their words.. Leaders can never lead people to where they’ve never been. Leaders must first experience the journey. When it comes to leadership with integrity , there are no shortcuts in the process. Integrity is developed over time.
As a leader commit to the process of developing integrity and thus your leadership effectiveness.
Live by that integrity and lead with that integrity. Integrity is a key to effective leadership!
“The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.” Proverbs 11:3 (NKJV)
