Understanding your place in the Kingdom of God – your divine purpose

Understanding Your Place in the Kingdom of God

finding your place in the kingdom of godUnderstanding  your place in the Kingdom of God is key to your divine purpose. Do you know and understand what your place in the kingdom of God is and the power you have?  Most believers go through life without any concept about the kingdom of God, what it is, how it works, or what it means to them.  Yet, the kingdom is God’s top priority.  Every believer is in the kingdom of God right now. Jesus said, “unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”  (John 3:5)   In other words, the moment a person becomes “born again” they are placed in the kingdom of God.

You have been delivered out of the kingdom of darkness (this world) and transferred into the kingdom of God, (Col. 1:13) for purpose.  Understanding your place in the kingdom of God is the first key to discovering and fulfilling your divine purpose.  There are 4 major positions you have in the kingdom of God.

You are a Citizen of the Kingdom of God

First, your place in the kingdom of God is as a “Citizen”  You are now a “Citizen” of the kingdom of God. (Phil. 3:20) As a citizen of the kingdom you have incredibly rights, privileges, and responsibilities.  The way God’s kingdom works is totally different than any nation in this world.  It’s not affected by the conditions of this world; economically, politically, or culturally.

The King provides EVERYTHING everyone needs in abundance for this life and the life to come, (2Peter 1:3; John 10:10)   Your heavenly citizenship allows you to live life from a position of strength.  The power of Heaven works in your favor every single day.  You were born into this world, but you are no longer of this world. Your citizenship in God’s kingdom is far greater than your earthly one.  You are citizen of God’s kingdom.

You are an Ambassador

The second place you have in the kingdom is that of an “Ambassador”.   You are an Ambassador for Jesus, the King of the Kingdom of God.  “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ…” (2 Corinthians 5:20) An ambassador is someone who represents another government in a foreign country.  So, you are on assignment by the king of kings to represent the kingdom of God here in this foreign land called earth.  You are an AMBASSADOR for the kingdom of God.

You Are a King

Thirdly, your place in the kingdom is that of a “King”.  The Kingdom of God is different than any other kingdom by the fact that every citizen is a king, not the KING. (Revelation 1:6)    This is why Jesus is referred to as the King of kings! (1Tim 6:15)  You have been placed in a position of authority in this world to rule over darkness, to rescue people from hell, and establish the rule of Jesus wherever you go by preaching the good news of the “Kingdom”. (Matthew 24:14)

You are a Servant

The fourth place you have in the kingdom of God is that of a “Servant”.   While it is extremely important to understand your place as a king and ambassador in the kingdom it is equally important to understand your place as a SERVANT.  Jesus set the example by humbling himself and serving.  Jesus didn’t come to be served, but to serve! (Matthew 20:28)   Jesus said, “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant…”  (Matthew 23:11 )   When we understand our place in the kingdom and realize that we have been given authority on earth we should immediately begin to serve others in meaningful and tangible ways.   The world uses their power to overpower the people around them. They make sure everyone knows who the boss is.  That’s not you or me, we are servant leaders.

You are to Rule and Reign with Christ

As a servant, king, ambassador, and citizen in the kingdom you are to rule and reign in the kingdom with Christ.  Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”  Most people put this as some future event and place, to reign with Jesus in heaven and during the Millennium. This is true, but it’s not the entire truth. Notice the verse says, “in life”.  You have been given the authority to rule and reign and have dominion in in this life here and now!

Also, notice it says we will reign… by Jesus.  Often the Church sets back thinking Jesus is going to do everything.  They don’t realize they have a part to play. Your place in the kingdom is to rule and reign.  Of course, it has to be done through and by the power of Christ in us, but He has given you the authority to rule and reign!

Unshakeable Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is not a religious institution or spiritual club. Jesus did not come to start a religion, but to establish a kingdom.  The Kingdom of God is eternal and unshakeable.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have
grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear
.”
Hebrews 12:28

I pray for you to receive that grace by which you fulfill your divine destiny as an ambassador, king, citizen, an servant leader as you rule and reign by Christ to effectively share the good news of the kingdom with others who so desperately need to hear it.
