Being a Father
On Fathers Day – call your father
Fathers are an important part of our lives and they are crucial to our society. Billy Graham once said, “Being a good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.” Fathers need our encouragement and support. It is important to show our love and appreciation to these men in our lives, they are a blessing from the Lord. So on “Father’s Day” I encourage you, if you can, give your father a call and let him know how grateful you are and encourage him in the Lord.
1 Huge Help to Being a Father
Men, there is help for us as fathers. Our families and communities need us not to be just fathers, but to be good fathers. How can we be a good father? As men, we have the tendency to just skip the manual, that thing with the instructions. No matter what it is we’re trying to put together, build, or do, we think we can figure it out as we go, so we just try to wing it, however, when things go wrong or don’t turn out right we finally refer to the instructions. It’s nice to have that manual to go back to. Well, there is a manual for being a Godly father. It is the Word of God.
God has given us this “1 Huge Help”. So, if you’re a dad looking for a little help at being a good father, I highly recommend that you don’t skip it and try to wing it! If you’ve tried being a good father with out referring to the manual and things aren’t working out I suggest it’s time to finally take a look at the instructions. It you’re just starting out or been a father for years it’s a good idea to read the manual.
There are many benefit to studying the Bible. I will not only help you be a better father, but a better person. There are many verses that provide great insight, instruction, help, and wisdom. Take time to read the manual. We need you. You don’t need to be a perfect father, you just need to be a father. While being a father isn’t easy, God, His Word, and His grace are there to help you. He has given us guidance in His Word on how to be a father. Make sure you get His help. Don’t go it alone. Read the instructions. Pray and ask God for His help.
Your relationship with God matters. The best thing you can do for yourself and your family is seek God and worship Him. That’s one of the benefits of reading the manual. You get to know Jesus better. Our heavenly Father gives us a great model to follow and He is revealed to us through Jesus. If you fail, repent and rely on the grace of God given you through His Son. You will then be able to teach your children about the beauty of Christ; with your words and your life.
“The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.” Pv. 23:24
