Declaring God’s Word – the key that unlocks your faith

Declaring God's Word by pastor bruce edwardsDeclaring God’s Word is the secret to unlocking your faith! Faith is a powerful force, but if you don’t how to release your faith and put it into action it does you no good. Faith can move mountains, it can save a sinner, it makes the impossible possible, and faith is how your receive every and any of the promises of God.  However, you have to use the key that unlocks that faith. You must know what that key is and how to use it. 2 Corinthians 4:13 tell us, “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,”. In other words faith that produces – believes, AND speaks. If you only believe God’s Word and do not speak it the power of faith that’s in your heart stays there. So, to unlock the faith that is your heart you have to speak it out.  Declaring God’s Word is the key that unlocks your faith.

Declaring God’s Word – is the key that unlocks your faith

Declaring God’s Word with your mouth puts the power of faith into action. For example, “by grace are you saved, THROUGH FAITH…” (Eph. 2:8). How do you release that saving faith? Romans 10:9-10 tells us, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” So, faith is released for salvation when you declare with your mouth what you believe in your heart. This is a perfect illustration of how to unlock your faith – by declaring God’s Word which you believe with your heart. This is true not only for the promise of salvation, but for every promise of God. The way you receive any promise of God is by faith. That faith develops in your heart and it’s unlocked by declaring it with your mouth.

Jesus explains it this way in Mark 11:22-24, Jesus tells us how to release our faith.  He says, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Notice Jesus mentions “believing” twice, but “saying” four times. Both are important, but He double emphasizes the “speaking” part.

Job 22:28 says, “You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you;” That is powerful. To declare simply means to speak, to say out loud with emphasis. What are we to declare? God’s Word that we believe in our heart! The spoken Word has great power and influence. Jesus when tempted by the devil overcame by speaking the Word. He said, “It is written…” THE WORDS WE SPEAK ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)

You Must CHOOSE What You Speak

Here’s the thing – You Must Choose to Declare God’s Word! The choice is yours. What words are you choosing to declare? Words that are negative? Word filled with doubt and fear? Word that bring death? OR Words that are positive? Words of faith? Words of life? It’s entirely up to you – you and you alone decide what comes out of your mouth. The natural and easy thing to do is to speak negative things and circumstances that surround you. It is crucial for you to intentionally decide to declare what God’s Word says in the face of those negative circumstances. We do not deny the facts or circumstances we face we just choose to believe what God’s Word says and declare it instead. Truth stands forever, but facts change – circumstances change in fact they change every day. Fads change – what’s popular changes – whats politically correct changes, but God’s Word never changes. Heaven and earth will pass away but his Word stands forever. The CHOICE is YOURS – Choose to declare God’s Word! speak the truth.

Jeremiah 1:12 tells us, “God watches over HIS Word to perform it.” God is not obligated to perform YOUR words or someone else’s words, only HIS WORD.” Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” In other words, it’s God’s job to bring to pass His Word. It’s your job to declare His Word.
