Don’t Settle for Less than Gods Best
First make up your mind – Don’t Settle! Don’t settle for less than Gods best for your life. Decide to go after God’s best. If you are willing to accept less than His best, you won’t experience His best. Make up your mind not to settle for less and go for it!
Second, you must know what belongs to you as a follower of Christ. We settle for less than Gods best because we are unaware of all that we have in Christ. The world’s best diamonds come from the diamond mines of South Africa. These extremely valuable mines were discovered by kids while playing marbles with some shiny rocks — it turns out these shiny rocks were diamonds. These children were holding incredible wealth in their hands, but to them they were just pretty rocks. They didn’t know what they had. You Possess Great Treasure
There are many valuable treasures you possess as a Christian. Two of the greatest treasures you have are God’s – Wisdom and Knowledge. In Colossians 2:2-3 the apostle Paul reveals these hidden treasures. He says, “I want (you) to be strengthened and joined together with love and to have the full confidence that comes from understanding. I want (you) to know completely the secret truth that God has made known. That truth is Christ himself. 3 In him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are kept safe.”
You Must Know the Wisdom and Knowledge of God
Third, to experience God’s best this year you will need to use God’s Wisdom and Knowledge. The apostle Paul was praying that every believer would KNOW (discover) the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge that are in Christ.
The wisdom and knowledge of God will keep you safe, show you things to come, give you understanding, provide direction, give you discernment, and much more. Knowing and using the Wisdom and Knowledge of God are key to having God’s best.
The apostle Paul clearly declares you already possess the WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE of God. Here’s the problem, just like the kids didn’t realize they had extremely valuable diamonds in their hands many believers have no idea what they possess.
How to Know and Use God’s Wisdom and Knowledge
The key that unlocks God’s wisdom and knowledge is found in Colossians 2:6, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” Notice Paul doesn’t say walk with Jesus or to walk after Him. He says walk IN Him! That’s it. Nothing more nothing less. To tap into the wisdom and knowledge of God – you must WALK IN CHRIST. It is the key to experiencing God’s best.
How-to Walk-in Christ
So how do you walk in Christ?
- First step – of walking in Christ is to receive Christ. To walk with Christ, you must be IN Christ. That’s the beginning of your walk in Christ. Our relationship with Jesus is by grace through faith. Take that first step – receive Jesus – believe in your heart and declare Him your Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:9-10)
- Next Step – of walking in Christ. Here’s where the rubber meets the road. If you truly want God’s best, you must take the next step. The next step of Walking in Christ is all about relationship, it is about loving Jesus. Loving Jesus is nothing less than surrendering to His lordship. Jesus has called us to a life of obedience. Jesus said, “If you love Me, obey the commandments I have given you.” (John 14:15)
Know Jesus More and More
Walking in Jesus is not about checking off a list of do’s and don’ts. It’s is about getting to know Him more and more. It is a desire to follow Jesus and embrace His way of life as we thank Him for save us. (Colossians 2:7) This is the bottom line of experiencing God’s best. To really know Jesus! Do you really know Him? The only way that happens is spending time with Him – in His Word – in prayer – that’s how you walk in Christ. This is the key to knowing and knowing how to use the wisdom and knowledge of God that is yours in Christ.
By Grace and Faith
Your next step and every step their after is done the same as the first – by grace through faith. The only way to keep walking in Christ is by keeping your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of your faith – trusting Jesus. Start every day thanking the Lord for redeeming you from the curse and giving your life eternal. Thank Him for keeping you, helping you, and guiding you. He is your friend, is with you always! Jesus wants you to experience His best. He helps you have His best through Godly wisdom and knowledge.
The world isn’t going to encourage you toward God’s best, and most Christians aren’t either. The devil will try and keep you from God’s best by condemning you and telling you you’re a loser. Don’t settle for less than God’s best for your life. God has far more for you. Walk in Christ every day and get to know Him more and more – then you will be able to tap into the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge – and experience God’s best for your life!
Raise your sights and aim higher. Most people are shooting at nothing and hitting it every time.
