Every day, the devil tries to steal, kill and destroy your life. (John 10:10) He trys to tempt you, deceive you, lie to you, and intimidate you. He bombards your mind with thoughts of fear, worry, and doubt. All in an effort to get you to question your faith in God and His love for you. The Devil Tempted Jesus
Everyone faces temptation. No one is exempt. The devil even tempted Jesus. Matthew 4:1 says, “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” How Jesus responded to that temptation gives us the secret to knowing how to resist the devil.
The Secret to Resisting the Devil
When tempted Jesus spoke three words that will revolutionize your life if you get it Three words that provide the secret to resisting the devil. Jesus said, “IT IS WRITTEN”. (Matthew 4:4) Jesus resisted the devil with the Word of God. He did not give any reference or try to explain the context of the word. He simply picked out a scripture and spoke it.
Declare What is Written
You resist the devil the same way, by speaking the Word of God. As you declare what is written, just as Jesus did it releases the power of God to transform the situation. If the devil tries to convince you that you are confused – you reply, “It is written – “I have the mind of Christ”. (1Corinthians 2:16)
If he tries to tell you your going to be sick all your life – your respond, It is written , “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus”. (1Peter2:24) If the thought comes that, “You won’t be able to pay your bills,” make the simple declaration: “IT IS WRITTEN: My God shall supply ALL of my needs!”(Philippians 4:19) No matter what the enemy tries to throw at you the answer should always be – “IT IS WRITTEN” followed by the appropriate promise from God’s Word.
The Devil Has to Flee
James 4:7 tells us, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When you declare what God’s Word says you will effectively resisting the devil and he has to flee. Remember it is not your words the makes the devil flee – it is God’s Word. When you speak God’s Word God has promised to watch over that Word and perform it. You are not trying to talk God into doing anything, you are simply declaring what He has already done.
