Ask God for Wisdom
Do you need more wisdom? Do you want more wisdom? James 1:5 gives us one of the keys of how to get more wisdom. It tells us to simply ask God for wisdom if we need it. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” What a great promise from God’s Word. If you ask God for wisdom He will give it to you. Not only does He give you wisdom, He gives it generously. This is a pivotal key for wisdom in our lives. God is the source of all wisdom. So, why not ask Him for wisdom?
Other than Jesus, Solomon was considered the wisest man to ever walk the earth. Why? When Solomon replaced his father David as King the Lord appeared to him and told him he could ask for whatever he wanted and God would give it to him. What would you ask God for if you absolutely knew that it would not be refused? Riches, power, fame , immortality … Here is how Solomon responded: “Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?“ (I Kings 3:9) Solomon was asking for wisdom to be a good king.
The Lord was so pleased with Solomon’s request that he said; “See, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.” (Verse 12) Solomon became the wisest man that ever lived. But that isn’t all. God told him that because he had asked for wisdom instead of long life, riches or the life of his enemies; “I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.“ (Verse 13)
Just like it pleased God when Solomon asked for wisdom, it pleases God when we ask for wisdom. It’s God’s nature to give. He is a giving God. One of the things He wants to give you is Godly wisdom. How to you get more wisdom? Ask God for it!
So, if you need wisdom ask God! It is an important Key for Wisdom.
