What is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is a glorious celebration of the marriage of Jesus to His bride the church. We read about it in Revelation 19:7-10,

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!”  And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Notice in verse seven we see the “marriage of the Lamb” take place.  Then in verse nine we read about the “marriage supper of the Lamb”. The “marriage” and “marriage supper” are related to the Jewish marriage customs in Bible times. The Jewish custom included a great celebratory feast  after the bride and groom were married. The marriage of Christ, the lamb, to the Church His bride, will be a spectacular ceremony only to be followed by the breathtaking wedding feast – the marriage supper of the Lamb.

When and Where Does the Marriage Supper of the Lamb take Place?

The marriage supper of the Lamb will take place after the Church has been taken to Heaven in the Rapture and following the judgment seat of Christ, but it will happen before we return with Christ to earth at His glorious appearing. This means the marriage of the lamb and the marriage supper of lamb will all take place in heaven (paradise).

Who Will Be at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb

The participants of this incredible end time event will include the groom who is the Lamb – Jesus Christ and the bride who is the church. Every person who is a member of the body of Christ will be there as the bride. As a believer you are cordially invited to the “Marriage Supper of the Lamb”. The moment you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior you became part of His Bride to be. This will be your wedding feast.

The third party invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb are the “Guests”. Who are these friends or guests? They will be the Old Testament saints such as Abraham, Issac and Jacob, Moses, Joshua, and David all who are in heaven, however, they are not part of the church, thus they are not the bride. Hebrews 12:1 talks about them as a “great cloud of witnesses”. John the Baptist, one of the Old Testament saints, identifies himself as a friend of the Bridegroom. (John 3:29) All the believing dead from Adam until the resurrection of Christ will be guests at this wedding feast.

And so the Marriage Supper of the Lamb will be a magnificent end time event. Meanwhile, as we are celebrating at this great feast in heaven, the angels of the Lord are carrying out God’s judgments of the Great Tribulation on earth.  Be sure to read all of the end time events posts – CLICK HERE.
