If God says no and He will, what do you do?  God won’t always tell you no, but when He does how you respond is extremely important.  God wants the best for you.   He wants to say yes – He is a “Yes God”.

If God Says No – what do you do?

When our kids were growing up they would always go to their Mom when they wanted something. Why? Because they thought mom would say YES! They would avoid coming to me because they thought I would say NO. Often my wife would tell them you’re going to have to go and ask your Dad and they would say, “but Mom Dad’s just going to tell us no.” Now I can tell you that I did not always say no in fact I said yes often and most of the time when I said no I wanted to say yes. Our children just had this perception of Dad being this tough and hard guy that always said no. Even though it wasn’t true.

As children of God often we have this same perception of our heavenly Father.   As a result we hesitate to come to God because we are afraid He will say no.  We think God wants to keep us from having any fun and will never let us do anything we want.  This is just not true.   God is a loving and caring Father who wants you to have fun and live a fulfilling and great life, but He wants to keep you safe and heading in the right direction.  That means there will be times when He says no. 

God is a good God…

If you are looking for someone who will always say “YES” to your every demand, want, or desire, there is one who is ready to say yes – it’s devil!   He doesn’t care if you destroy your marriage, lose you business, and ruin your life. God on the other hand is a loving father who watches out for you. He loves and cares about you. God is a good God – but He loves and cares for you to much to just say yes to every demand — He knows how to tell us “NO” so, if God says no, what do you do?

3 Responses when God says NO

First, listen and take heed.  God always has more wisdom and foresight than we do, regardless of how smart we think we are.  He knows the beginning from the end. (Isaiah 46:10)  We should always want and take heed to someone who has that kind of inside information.   So, if God says no – listen up and take heed.

Second,  realize God has something better for you. God is not trying to keep anything from you.  God wants the “better” for you!  Hebrew 11:40 says, “God planned something better for us. He wanted to make us perfect. Of course, he wanted those great people to be made perfect too, but not before we could all enjoy that blessing together.”  So, if God says no – know that He has something better!

Third, wait for and look for His “YES”.   Psalm 27:14 says this, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”  When we wait for His yes it is always better. When God says no what He really is saying is there is a better yes for you. Keep looking for the – yes’s – they will produce God’s best for your life! God has something greater for you.  God knows best.  Look for His yes!

If God says no it’s not because He wants to withhold the blessings and promises from you. In fact 2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”  God wants you to be blessed and experience the fullness of all He has for you.  God is not wanting to say no, He is wanting to say YES.  He is a yes God, but only yes to His best for you!

God has more for you. More – peace, joy, hope, grace, mercy, provision, healing, wisdom, etc. Here’s the deal, God has already said yes He is not a no God. So, the issue is not in God saying yes, but rather in us saying YES to Him! Saying yes to Christ and yes to His will for our life.

God is a good God, but He is a better Father!  If God says no – take heed, know there is something better, and look for His yes.  Are you ready to say yes to the promises and plan of God for you?  If you say yes then get ready for His yes!
