The Battle Belongs to the Lord – how to win every battle of life

The battle belongs to the Lord!  Life is filled with battles – financial battles, spiritual battles, relationship battles and battles with our health. There are battles with negative thoughts, doubt, fear, and worry.   What battle are you facing?  I have good news no matter what you are facing you are destined to overcome and win.  Why?  Because the battle belongs to the Lord. (2Chronicles 20:15)

The Battle Belongs to the Lord

The battle belongs to the Lord by Pastor Bruce EdwardsIf the battle belongs to the Lord – what are we to do when facing the battles of life? Do we just sit and do nothing or does God expect us to fight?

Facing the Giants

Life is filled with all kinds of challenges and obstacles that try to discourage and keep us from reaching the destiny God has for us. There are giants in the land that intimidate and defeat believers because they try to face them in our own strength.  The battle belongs to the Lord, but what do you do to make the battle the Lords?

How to Make the Battle the Lords

1. Pray

In 2 Chronicles we read how King Jehoshaphat was facing a battle that looked impossible.  He was surrounded by a collation of 3 enemy armies that were about to wipe them out. Jehoshaphat knew they could not defeat this great army with the limited weapons and soldiers he had. So, he gathered the people together and prayed.  They cried out to God.

2. Praise

Jehoshaphat praised God and declared the greatness of God and then said, “we do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”.   God heard their prayer and responded,

Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle
is not yours, but God’s
. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely
come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook
before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle.
Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the
Lord, who is with
you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out
against them, for the
Lord is with you

3. Face the Enemy

Notice even though God clearly said the battle was not theirs, but it was the Lord’s they still had to go out and face the enemy.  They still needed to take action.  The battle belongs to the Lord, but we have to stand toe to toe and face the giants that are trying to intimidate and defeat us.

4. Implement God’s Plan

When David faced Goliath, David still had to bend down pick up 5 smooth stones, take one and use his sling shot to send that stone out as God’s guided missile into the forehead of the giant and slay him.  (1Samuel 17:49)

The key is to face the giants not in our strength, power, and ability, but with the power, anointing, and strength of the Lord.  “Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.”  (Ephesians 6:10) Are you wearing yourself out trying to battle your battles on your own? God’s battle plan looks nothing like man’s.  His ways are higher than ours.

The Lord Always Causes you to Triumph

When facing the enemy, we need to pray and asked God for His help and His strategy. Why?  Because the battle belongs to the Lord.   He has the power and strategy to defeat the enemy every time.  God has given us spiritual armor to fight and He will give up the grace, wisdom, power, and help needed to defeat the enemy every time.  “He always causes us to triumph.” (2Corinthians 2:14) You don’t fight for victory, but you fight from it.

You Will Overcome

No matter what you are facing you can win.  Regardless of any setback you have experienced in life you can bounce back.  Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation, trials, trouble…but I have overcome”. (John 16:33) “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers us out of them all.”  (Psalms 34:19) We have no promise of a trouble-free life.  Life is filled with “BATTLES, but we do have the promise of overcoming them and having a life of victory.

You are going to make it.  In fact, you are going to more that make it. Romans 8:37 says, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”  You are MORE than conqueror!  Don’t quit – keep your eyes on Jesus.

You Can’t Win —- Alone

You are a winner, but you can’t win alone. If you are facing a battle today that seems overwhelming, give it over to God and let Him help you. He will work it all out and make a way where it seems there is no way.  When the battle is near, cry out to God. Let Him fight for you, and you may find that the battle is won before you even get there.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. – Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)

You’re Going to Make It

You are going to make it.  In fact, you are going to more that make. Romans 8:37 says, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”  You are MORE than conqueror!  Don’t quit – keep your eyes on Jesus.
