Warning for the Church – Pray for America – Pray for the Church!
- Planted – No other nation has ever had such a Christian beginning as America. Regardless of how hard certain factions of our culture try to rewrite history and remove the Christian heritage of American, it can never eliminate the truth. We are one nation under God. The American dream was placed in the hearts of our Founding Fathers who founded the original colonies because of the Christian faith.
- Prospered – America has prospered like no other nation. God did not bless America so we could live in luxury. Our prosperity was for His glory. God blesses America for it to be a blessing to the world.
- Protected – God planted America and put a hedge around it. In a war-torn world, He has protected America. Compare America to what has happened to other might countries. By the grace of God, we have seen Almighty God deliver us and protect us by His might.
America is much like Israel.
Here’s the thing – God birthed, prospered, and protected Israel, but He eventually delivered them into the hands of their enemies because of their wickedness and idolatry. Just like Israel, this can happen to the USA. Israel was removed from their land and dispersed among the nations. Once one of the mightiest nations in the world under King David and Solomon was quickly diminished to almost nothing. For 3000 years the nation of Israel has been persecuted by the nations of the world.
Prayer for Revival and Restoration
The United States is not Israel. The judgment of Israel is unique to the covenant they have with God. However, there are principles in God’s Word when violated produce consequences. Psalm 80 is a prayer asking God for the restoration and revival of Israel –
Verse 1 – “Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth!…
Verse 3 – Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!
Verse 12 – Why have You broken down her [Israel’s] hedges, so that all who pass by the way pluck her fruit?
The psalmist was disheartened to see that God, the Founder, and Protector of Israel, was removing the hedge from around His people.
Warning for America
This is a warning we need to take heed of. We are in a moral freefall. God blessed America, but now America says, “God, we don’t want You!” We expelled Him from our schools and government, we have legalized abortion, and now protect deviate lifestyles. We bow our knees to political correctness and have become a culture of idolatry.
The Devil is at Work
This is what Satan has wanted to do for a long time. He’s been walking around saying, “How can I get in? I can’t get in.” But now the hedge seems to have cracks in it if not completely removed. So, Satan can get in—and has. How else do you explain why we are in such chaos? In many parts of the world, America is known as “The Great Satan,” no longer respected for her ideals, leadership, or moral strength.
Many of us are shell-shocked. Bad news keepings coming at us like a rushing river. We are at a point of grave national danger. Friends, there won’t be an America if we don’t take this nation back.
Only God Can Deliver Us – Pray for America
Only God can deliver us. We must seek His face and pray. The answer for America is not Washington DC. The answer is the Church. It’s time for God’s people to take the place of authority that God gave us. Jesus told us that, “whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever we loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18) It is time to pray for America. “O Lord God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!” (Psalm 80:19)
Let the Church Arise – Pray for the Church
It is time to pray for the Church to arise. Pray for the power and presence of the Church to invade and influence the culture and not culture influence the Church. We need to pray for the church to awaken and be the light and salt God has called us to be. Pray for the church to be bold and preach Christ and the Word and not personal philosophies, experiences, and traditions.
Learn from Nazi Germany
During the rule of Hitler in Nazi Germany, the church at large was asleep. The Holocaust was a brutal time in history that unveiled apathy in the church. While there were some brave families that stood up to the culture of death, the church at large was asleep. Some Christians even participated in anti-Semitic discrimination and brutality, selling out their neighbors for insignificant monetary gain, the equivalent of just a few dollars. German families closed their eyes to the horror taking place in their own backyards, while the smokestacks polluted their air daily. When the war was over, German citizens were forced to walk single-file through the camps and look on the horrors that had been committed there—piles of dead corpses were in plain sight, and they could no longer look away or feign ignorance.
Today the church in America has by and large been asleep, apathetic, and unwilling to raise her voice. The church has been silenced by political correctness, bowing to the opinions of man rather than to the righteousness of God. The church is at the crossroads. It’s not too late. Let’s take a lesson from Nazi Germany – IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP! Take heed to the warning for the church. Pray for love to be the motivation that fuels our fire.
