You are complete in Jesus, but how do you see yourself?
YOU ARE COMPLETE IN JESUS
Regardless of how inadequate you may feel or how flawed your life might be – you are complete in Jesus! Many people go through life thinking “if only”; I could be married, I had children, I had a better job, more money, better health, a nicer place to live, a livelier church …” Or “if only I hadn’t; made that mistake or missed that opportunity…” and so on.
The Work of Jesus is Finished
At the cross, Jesus did everything necessary for our salvation, which includes our healing and wholeness. As He died on the cross, He proclaimed, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) Jesus’ work is complete and there’s nothing more that He needs to do for our salvation, peace, joy, well-being, healing, and wholeness. You are complete in Jesus – “and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:10)
But You Must Receive it All
However, we need to receive each aspect of His completed work and appropriate it for ourselves. Many only receive salvation as their ticket to heaven and fail to experience the fullness of what Christ has provided for them. Jesus said, “I have I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly – [to the full, till it overflows].” (John 10:10b)
Satan is the Accuser
The devil is a thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy your life. He is continually at work accusing believers and reminding them of all their mistakes and faults. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. (Revelation 12:10) Don’t let him!
It is a Done Deal!
The Old Covenant was structured as a “do and don’t” agreement – do you shall live, – don’t and you will suffer the consequences. The principle of the New Covenant is ‘it is done,’ and includes redemption, reconciliation, righteousness, and sanctification. The work is finished! We are complete in Him! If the Old Covenant had no defects, there would have been no attempt to institute another (Heb. 8:7). In the Old Covenant, men found themselves unable to abide in its agreement, for it was based upon a man’s performance.
Based Upon God’s Grace
The New Covenant, however, is based totally upon God’s grace. Under the Old Covenant, men approached God through a priest, while under the New Covenant, we have direct access to the Father through Jesus Christ. In the Old Covenant, a man’s sin led to his death while under the New Covenant, God is merciful to our unrighteousness. Under the Old Covenant, man could not be cleansed of a consciousness of sin while under the New Covenant, our sins and iniquities are remembered no more, and our guilty consciences are cleansed.
Prior to being saved, we were incomplete and there was a constant striving in every person for peace. Through the new birth, we are complete in Christ and our hunger now should only be for more revelation of what we already have in Christ.
You have the Fulness of Christ in You
In the same way that Jesus had the fullness of God in Him, we also have the fullness of Christ in us. That makes us complete or perfect in Him, that is speaking of our spiritual man. Our born-again spirit is identical in righteousness, authority, and power to Christ’s spirit, because our born-again spirit is the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9).
The Question – How do You See Yourself?
So, when you look at yourself, what do you see? Do you see someone who is incomplete and imperfect? Are you filled with guilt and condemnation? Do you feel inferior to others and lacking in many areas?
God Sees You as a New Creation
The good news is that is not the way God sees you! God sees the spirit. He sees you already complete in Christ. In spite of any imperfections, He sees you as a new creation, partaker of His divine nature, and more than conquerors over all your weaknesses and faults. AND – He wants you to see yourself the way He sees you.
You are Complete Now
Whatever you think you need or think you are lacking in; you already have it in Christ. You are not going to be complete in Christ someday—you are already complete in Christ- NOW!
So, if you are feeling incomplete what do you do? Begin now – to walk daily in that completeness by believing that it is true and declaring it over your life. Make this confession,
“I am complete in Jesus. He is my complete forgiveness, complete righteousness,
complete peace, complete favor, complete protection, my completer everything. I am
complete in Jesus”
Keep Your Focus on Jesus
So don’t focus on the lack you see in your life. Focus instead on how in Christ, you are complete in everything at this moment. And instead of weaknesses, lack, and defects, you will see His strength, wholeness, soundness, and completeness manifesting in you! You are complete in Jesus!
