God Finishes What He Starts
God finishes what He starts. Even if you don’t see it, God is still at work, that includes working in you and your life. You may feel like God has forgotten about you. It may seem as if He’s given up on you. Your life may be a mess and things may look hopeless. You may think God’s mad at you. He’s not! God is for you. (Romans 8:31) Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God is faithful to complete the work He started in us. What God starts, He finishes. Where God guides, He provides. And where God leads, He meets our needs.
In the middle of all our messes and in every part of life God is there. God is always at work in us and through us. I don’t know about you, but I’m not perfect, a long way from it. There are always situations happening that I need God’s help with. There are things I need to to improve on and be better at. I am a work in progress. God is not finished with me yet. The truth is He is working on all of us.
Here’s the deal, if we will surrender our lives to Him and allow Him to work He can and will transform our lives and every situation or storm we go through. GOD ISN’T FINISHED WITH YOU. If you’re still breathing you’re not done.
God is the Potter
God is the potter we are the clay. (Jeremiah 18) You are His masterpiece in progress. God sees the end from the beginning. So, no matter what your life is like now – good or bad. He is still shaping and molding you. He still putting the final brush strokes on the canvass. Regardless of what it look likes, no matter your past, in spite of how the world has defined you or labeled you – God sees something greater. He’s created you for a purpose that only you can do. I want to encourage to let God do His work. He will finish what He’s started, if you let Him.
3 Keys to Letting God Work
Here’s what I want you to do;
- Remember who you are. Michelangelo was asked about the difficulties that he must have encountered in sculpting his masterpiece, David. He answered, “It is easy. You just chip away the stone that doesn’t look like David.” There are somethings God needs to chip away in your life, but on the inside there’s a masterpiece. You are a child of God, created in His image. You are a champion. You are loved and forgiven. You are the righteousness of God. You are more than a conqueror. Don’t forget it. Don’t allow circumstances or others to define who you are. God is at work like a sculptor bringing out who you are by chipping away all that doesn’t look like you. In it all remember who you are!
- Remember whose you are. You are extremely valuable. The value of anything is determined by who made it and how much someone is willing to pay for it. God made you and He paid the ultimate price for you. You belong to Him. He is your father. You are HIS! He knows how to keep those who belong to Him. He has a vested interest in you. He continues to work on you and in you because your are His. Never forget whose you are!
- Remember why you are. It’s natural to wonder or ask, why I am here? Why did God make me? He created you for a purpose to help fulfill his eternal plan. There are no mistakes or spare parts with God. You are here for a divine purpose, that’s why you are. Here’s the thing, if you’re going to fulfill your purpose you will need to be allow God to work on you, in you, and through you. He is shaping you, chiseling you, molding you, refining you, etc. Why? So you can be the best you. It takes time. God works like a crock-pot not a microwave. It takes patience, that’s why the only way to endure the process of God working in you, you must know and remember why you are – here!
God Will Do It
God has begun a good work in you, however He’s not finished yet. Let Him complete what He’s started. Don’t get off the potters wheel, because God finishes what He starts. He will do it!
“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” (1Thes. 5:23-24)
