Gods Way is Perfect
GODS WAY IS PERFECT
“As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” (Psalm 18:30)
Gods way is perfect! Perfect means His way is flawless, pure, and complete. There is nothing we can change or add that can make His way any better.
His ways are perfect because He is perfect, His Word is perfect, and His Salvation is perfect! Whatever He says or does is not only flawless, but it is also complete! So – why not just do it His way?
Our Way Leads to Death
Unfortunately, we often think we know what’s best for us. We want to do things “our way”, but if we chose to do things our way instead of God’s way we will always run into problems and never fully experience God’s best.
“There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death. “ (Proverbs 16:25)
Our way may seem so logical and right at the time, but it won’t accomplish God’s purposes. When we chose our way we are left to our own strength and ability. We miss the incredible power of God and the fullness of His grace for our life.
How Do You Know what God’s Ways Are?
First, we need to know God.
There are two ways you can know God: casually or intimately. You can know about God, or you can know God. To know “about” God is to know His works, but, to know God intimately is to know His way. To know God takes spending time with Him – talking with Him and listening to Him. It’s the same way you get to know anyone.
Second, read and meditate in the Word of God.
God reveals His ways (His Will) in His Word. God will speak to you through His Word. Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” How are you going to find God’s way? By following His Word. The wisdom to rightly respond to many of the choices we face are found in God’s Word.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it…if you trust Him, He will direct your path – in His way.
Say “YES” to His Ways
Learning the ways of God is really not that difficult if we are willing to take time with Him and with His Word. What is hard for us is surrendering our will to His will – and saying YES to what He directs us to do. This is at the heart of what this short post is about. Making the decision to “SAY YES” to God.
God allows us free choice in all matters. He doesn’t want slaves. When God shows us His way and asks us to follow His directions we can say “no” or “let me think about it and get back to you” or we can say “too busy now, perhaps when I retire” or “I’d rather do it a different way” or any number of other answers. But the answer most pleasing to God is simply: “YES”.
God is Good and Merciful
God is so good and merciful even when we try to do things are way if we turn to God He will work everything out for our good. When you trust Him to lead you, He will guide you in the perfect path that He has marked out for you. It might not always be easy. There may be obstacles in your path… But as long as you hold on to God, He will lead you safely to the other side.
Your Way or His Way?
Life is filled with choices and challenges and there are always two ways to respond—God’s way or our way. Obedience to God may appear unreasonable at times—like a carpenter asking a professional fisherman to try once more, even though he had been fishing without success all night. (Luke 5:5) But obeying the Lord can lead to divinely ordained opportunities and blessings for us and others. How do you respond to God’s requests? Does the word “yes” come quickly?
The question is, Are you going to do it your way or will you say yes to His way? Let me suggest that we let go of self-will and surrender to the will of God and do His way. His ways are perfect.
As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him. (2 Samuel 22:31)
