Nativity Scene
In our home we have two Christmas trees and under one of them we set up the nativity scene. Every year we meticulously line-up all of the unique figures – Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in the manger , a couple of shepherds, three wise men & their camels, an angel, a few stable animals, a few trees and other trappings. Each figure represents a significant part of the redemption story. Christmas and all its traditions make it the most wonderful time of the year!
Is Your Life in a Mess?
However, Christmas with all it’s traditions and it’s message of hope, peace, and joy often seems beyond our reach in light of the reality of the world we live in. The world around us is filled with sin, hate, prejudice, poverty, and war. Personally, many are in the midst of difficulties, pain and tragedy – divorce, sickness, loss of a job, death, or other situations that just make things hard.
There is Hope
It is because of these problems in our lives and the challenges in our world that Jesus came. The reason the Angels announced with great grander their message of joy was because of God coming as a baby in a manger in response to the problems in the world and our lives.

It also should remind us that even now in this time between the garden of Eden and Revelation we can and should experience a similar life here and now – life and life more abundant. (John 10:10) It is Heaven on earth – here and now! How?
Because Jesus came from heaven to earth. In the middle of all our mess God showed up in a manger to become the Lamb of God that takes the way the sin of the world, to be our redeemer and make a way where there seemed to be no way, to bring eternal life and to restore all that was lost.
